Spring 2019 Update
Hello everyone. For those of you that don't know me, my name is Robert Hahn and I will be serving as Consul of the Alpha Chapter for the next year. We had an amazing year at Alpha, so I wanted to share some of the things that we accomplished:
1. Last summer we took home the Peterson Significant Chapter Award for the first time since 1997 (and only 2nd time ever).
2. An Ohio Historical Marker was erected at the Founding Site in uptown Oxford.
3. We took a spring pledge class of 36 men. These men are already achieving great things, placing 1st at the new member combine (series of events that measure physical strengths).
4. We raised our chapter GPA from 3rd overall to 2nd overall among fraternities at Miami University.
5. For the first time ever, the Alpha chapter became a member of the Huntsman 20K Club after raising $28,129 during Derby Days.
6. Three brothers were voted onto the Inter-fraternity Council (IFC), making us the most represented fraternity on campus.
7. Some individual brother achievements:
- Hunter Meacham, ran for student body VP; while he ultimately lost, it was an incredible opportunity for him.
- Ben Sandler placed 1st at the regional Venture Capital Investment competition and placed 3rd at the national level.
- Grant Laning won the Province Balfour Award and is moving into consideration for the International Balfour Award.
- Chris Crouse, our former Consul, won IFC President of the Year.
7. We scored a 99/100 on our Ritual Certification.
9. With the help of our alumni homecoming committee, we held two successful homecoming weekends (one in fall, one in spring).
We hope to carry this momentum into next year and continue to grow as a chapter. I want to thank all of you for your past and continued support. We truly could not do this without you. IHSV
