Huntsman Cancer

Foundation

The Sigma Chi
Story

In December 2012, Sigma Chi designated the Huntsman Cancer Foundation (HCF) as its sole preferred philanthropic partner. On April 12, 2013, Sigma Chi members presented the millionth dollar raised for cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) to Significant Sig and Order of Constantine Sig Jon M. Huntsman, Sr., Pennsylvania 1959.

On June 15, 2015, Sigma Chi made the largest commitment by a men’s fraternity, with an $11 million pledge to HCF. In February 2020, Sigma Chi fulfilled that pledge.

In June 2019, Sigma Chi pledged an additional $20 million to be used for women's cancer screening, treatment, and research.

The Sigma Chi name now graces the HCI campus: Huntsman Cancer Hospital (HCH) is home to the Sigma Chi International Fraternity Sixth Floor. Chapters that raise $1,000 or more also receive brick pavers in the Walk of Hope located between HCI and HCH. Last year alone the Sigma Chi Fraternity raised over $1.9 million and dedicated the Sigma Chi Friendship Garden at the new Primary Children’s and Families’ Cancer Research Center at HCI.

The Alpha Chapter

The Alpha Chapter has made vast improvements with their philanthropic efforts the last few years. In both the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years, we have raised $50,000+ for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.

For the 2022-2023 school year, the Alpha Chapter has set an ambitious goal of $70,000. We believe it is crucial to consistently hold ourselves to a higher standard when it comes to philanthropy.
